In addition, from within the browser e-mail interface, you can (or will soon be able to) reach all the parts of the Live ecosystem, such as Live.com, Live Search, and Live Spaces, among many others. I wrote the previous comment and then thought of another problem.I have email that regularly comes to my Junk Mail box. For many months I have consistantly clicked on "report and delete" but the emails keep right on coming. I am not talking about emails where they keep changing their name. These are emails that every few days keep sending me exactly the same thing. For example CRM Magazine refuses to stop sending me thier miserable emails. I have called the company and asked to be taken off their list. I have notified them by email to stop. I have opened their email and clicked on the section that should notify them I want to be removed. Every single email from them I click on the "report and delete" button and it\’s like driving my car using the steering wheel on my child\’s car seat. Nothing works! How do I get CRM Magazine and the other scammers to stop when "report and delete" only deletes, never reports?
Please bring POP3 back, its vital for one of the reasons I use hotmail!!
Also, any plans to intergrate a webbased WL messenger into WL Mail – something which yahoo has just done, could be a great feature – 2 of the best live products put together!
PG Mag Editor ? At least SPELL IT RIGHT … PC MAGAZINE … (PG ??? ) I could go MANY places with this one. Like John Stewart says about Bush and Cheney, they make it so easy the jokes just write themselves. (Anyway, I think the "PG" mag person needs a drug test.)

John: You\’re absolutely right that getting junk mail in your inbox is very annoying. It\’s one of the top concerns for all e-mail users. When you click "report and delete," the from address is automatically added to your blocked senders list. The e-mail message is also used to update the algorithm that detects spam messages. Many spammers constantly change the address that they use to send the same spam messages and send many messages in rapid succession before the filters have time to adjust. If you think you are getting spammed consistently by a particular sender, please make note of the exact e-mail address that is sending you spam messages. Go to Options -> Blocked and allowed senders and make sure that the address and domain of the spammer are in your blocked list and not your allowed list. If you are receiving messages from the same address or domain, blocking the address or a domain is a great way to stop receiving annoying messages.
John: The behavior that you don\’t like was actually requested by users because it\’s how Outlook works and they wanted the behavior they are used to. Once you use the arrow keys to select the message you want to read, click in the body of the message. In a future milestone, we plan to add additional keyboard access for power users like yourself.
To get back to MSN Hotmail, go to Options and click "Switch back to MSN Hotmail."

One of the features I would love to have on WLHotmail, and surely many users, is the ability to attach many files without repeating the same process many times for each file as we do now, this would save us lots of time and it would make much more pleasant the Windows Live Hotmail users\’ experience.
Also, it would be good if we could choose if we want the files we send as attachments to be saved in our "Sent messages" since sometimes what we need to store is the message itself rather than the whole attachment. This could be achieved by, possibly, adding a checkbox we can select when we want or not our attachements be saved.
Finally, it would be useful for many people if we could create subfolders to organize our emails in a better way.
Well, I want to congratulate the Windows Live Hotmail Team for such a good job you are doing!!!

I like the new user interface of Hotmail but please focus more on ironing out the bugs, such as drag and drop, over adding new features. I would much rather have the simple existing interface working reliably than a ton of new features with bugs and performance problems.

It would be really nice if you could include sorting the date in the Inbox in ascending or descending order. Also, please try to allow attaching several files at once, instead of the present way of attaching them one by one. Keep up the nice work! Looking forward to better performance and new features in the M10 release!
Just retire the Windows Live brand — adding "Hotmail" to it shows a profound lack of commitment, it unnecessarily clutters product and service names to just prefix them with "Windows Live" and it creates a market perception that there\’s really nothing new about these services except extra words in their names.Windows Live was a good thing — put it back on the shelf until you\’re ready to really mean it.
There is one thing that should be added and that was included in the "old" Hotmail. After sending an e-mail a confirmation that it was sent appears. But why there\’s not the smart shortcut to "Send another e-mail" as it was in Hotmail? It\’s such an important feature, because manytimes we need to send a couple of e-mails at the same time and every time I have to first click on E-mail, than choose the Write new e-mail button. It\’s complicated. It doesn\’t cost anything to add that function.
And – why there is totally missing the function to Copy, Paste, Cut? Now I have to use the shortcut keys. I mean – if you upgrade this program, you can\’t such easily "forget" this function that was in the very first version of M9. I would like to see some answers from you for our comments, so that we know that you really read our comments and that we can get any answer on our questions.
Keep the good work anyway, I like the way the new mail looks.
Change it back… back to Windows Live MAIL. Also, could we see some Opera support please (Cough…Wii…). I know it\’s unlikely but not everyone has an XBox 360!!! By the way, I am writing this on my Wii. Are you making Windows Live Webmessenger? I love MSN Webmessenger, but it\’s very featureless, and old. If we could have support for display pictures and winks and custom emoticons, I would be very happy. Thanks!

hi hotmail team, i have a list of grievances with the new hotmail, or bugs, maybe you can check them out.
– lines under links in classic view – it don\’t look too great
– dotted boxes around clicked areas – this also dont look too good
– scrolling of messages in firefox – when i scroll a message in firefox lots of white horizontal lines come up covering the area scrolled, sometimes its hard to read the message.
– message stays selected – i use the no reading pane option; when i click a message it goes to it, but then i click back or click on inbox and the message is still selected (even with no tick in the checkbox)
– the cursors are weird – it goes to a text input cursor over links in the inbox, and sometimes where there\’s no text at all
– firefix css is slow to act – then the inbox loads in full mode, it loads without css for a second then cuts back in
– message hovering is laggy – in ie7 when the mouse hovers over messages or links, it is really slow and laggy to change.
– resizing – when i resize the window it only redraws the page when i have stopped resizing, it would be better to have it constantly and smoothly resizing the page elements
– the textinput cursor doesnt show when over the compose message box in firefox
– those yellow img alt tooltips come up when you hover over the buttons, even if there is already text there telling us that it means e.g. Report and delete comes up with a little yellow Report and delete – its a bit annoying, dont need to read it twice
i know these are only cosmetic little thingies but it would really make the program feel finished and complete, "built like a brick shithouse" they say down my way, maybe you could sort them out for m10. many thanks 🙂
The guy who did the review @ PC Magazine must have been smoking crack. Honestly Windows Live Mail is vastly improved over previous Hotmail offerings but it still offers nowhere near the convenience and flexibility of Gmail. Gmail offers POP access with ANY POP email client. The "conversations" feature is innovative and intuitive. And since nobody offers nested folders, at least Gmail\’s label system gives you lots of flexibility.I just don\’t get it.
This guy must be on another planet. I used it for a couple of days, so frustrating, I blew it out the window. If Microsoft goes with this platform, goodbye.

i have been on the internet for almost a year and i am enjoying it. I find windows live messenger slow and sometimes very frustrating how can i speed this process up? I also went on some adult websights and after viewing a few i lost interest and i thought that i unsubscribed to them however i am receiving email regularly from different ones and i would like them to stop how can i correct this problem? the new interface is exactly as described, it imitates Outlook 03 sp2 (the version I use at work) better than any interface I have used. As a programmer myself I am still loving and learning the .net 3 framework and all of its new features via VS \’05. I am not really a Microsoft loyalist so to speak, but in evaluating products as a job, and for fun, it is very hard to ignore MS\’s offerings in just about any field especially office productivity. Yes, open source is great, but there will always be a need for bigger and better packaged offerings, I just hope the MS development team does not get too carried away with this whole \’live\’ business because that sounds to me like Microsoft competing with the little guys, when if the little guys products (lany inux, opera, star office, open office, etc.) were ever held to the scrutiny of your releases EVERYONE would see the advantages of MS brand loyalty (maybe one day even myself).
Hotmail stinks, as you cannot, by default, save all sent mail to your sent mail folder. That is the biggest deficiency. It is not Pop3 enabled, thus is substandard to any other email program, and lacks the integration capabilities that are accepted industry-wide. When are you guys gonna wake up and take note of what people really need to simplify sending and receiving email. The technologies you are dabbling in now, like integration to Live.com are self-serving motives, and the effort is solely focused on increasing revenues. Start thinking about the consumer.

Since M9 has been released, I\’m having a big problem with some of my mails I\’m receiving. I don\’t know why my mails appear with programming codes (i guess these are HTML codes – I don\’t know much about programming). Mails that were previously fine are now unreadable. I really hope you fix that at the earliest. Here\’s an extract from such a mail:
